You're so geared up to take a time off. And you've finally decided to quit pushing that dream get-away aside. You're so itching to catch the proverbial trade winds in your sails and you're getting ready for the big day. Hold on a sec before you fill that gargantuan suitcase.

There are two important key words to remember when packing – Travel Light.

Aside from your toothbrush and your personal hygiene kit, here are the indispensable things to pack before you venture out there:

Medication and other healthcare information. Be careful not to bring the whole medicine cabinet – headache tabs, anti-diarrhea pills, anti-asthma inhalers. Don't forget to bring anti-histamines in case you couldn't resist the temptation in gobbling up that juicy slice of shrimp, which you are so allergic to. Don't forget your medication and your vitamins the ones that you take regularly and need. Bring information about your blood type and vaccinations. Go on a routine check-up with your doctor and make sure you are in tip-top shape.
  1. Toiletries. Shampoo and soap. Anti-bacterial hand gels to disinfect. Germs can cause sore throats. Traveling with a sore throat is a complete damper. If you're a female, bring feminine napkins and basic make-up. Bring lotion – because traveling can be dehydrating and your skin needs to be moisturized.
  2. Pack your clothes. Make sure you bring appropriate clothes for your destination. Don't forget your thermal underwear when you plan to go skiing in the alps. Needless to say, bring your board shorts when you plan to go sailing. The trick here is to bring six pairs of tops and bottoms that can mix and match. Throw in some scarf or a hat if you want to glam your outfit a tad bit. However, it's best to bring at least 10 pairs of underwear and a pair of socks for each travel day. That is if you don't have plans on washing your dirty clothes.
  3. But do bring a detergent soap so you can wash your clothes in case a situation necessitates you to stay longer.
  4. Bring a light and well-absorbent towel. The ones mountaineers bring with them when they trek the mountains to camp.
  5. Make sure you bring an appropriate pair of walking shoes. You will definitely go on endless walking so take good care of your feet by investing on a good pair of shoes. Bring an extra pair of fit flops or rubber sandals if you're going to a tropical place.
  6. Don't forget to bring a good pair of shades. To protect your eyes from the sun – especially if you're going to somewhere sunny. Even snow can be glaring to the eyes. So pack up those shades. They're not just there to make you look good but to protect your eyes. Looking good with them on is just an added perk.
  7. Finally, don't forget your trusty and dependable guidebook. Or better yet, a travel app in your smart phone is way better. Most trusty guidebooks are bulky so travel app is way better and lighter to bring along.
All done and you're good to go. Bring an open mind and a joyful heart. Travel light. Take nothing but pictures, leave nothing but footprints. Make memories. Get coupons for your next travel at cheapdanny.com.
